    In the following several months, I spent most of my time listening to God’s words at home, feeling extremely liberated, and my state of mind was renewed. During that period, I thought a lot: My wrong outlook on life not only made me directionless, but it also harmed the relationship between me and my families. I used to talk about everything with my parents and siblings, but later on there was an estrangement between us. When my brother was studying at university, he couldn’t stand the pressure to study and so wanted to drop out. Regardless of his feeling, I told him one time after another, “No good job without good educational background; without a good job, you can’t make good money, let alone get married in the future.” In frustration, he said to me, “Sister, I don’t like my major. I’m not you. So, don’t force your preferences on me. As long as I can live happily even without money, it will be fine.” That was the first time we quarreled. At last, he quitted school. I couldn’t understand him, and he no longer spoke his heart to me. When my mother read God’s words to me, I didn’t want to listen; gradually, we spoke heart to heart with each other less and less. When my father and sister phoned me to show concern for me, I couldn’t feel their concern for me, but always responded with frostiness, only bent on my work. Thinking of this, I felt I had missed so many good days that I should have spent with my families. If only I could go back to the past! I wanted to attend meetings with my mother and especially longed to stay with brothers and sisters. So I dialed my mother’s phone number and told her why and how much I wanted to return before God. She was very excited at my words, and sighed with relief, “I have tried to persuade you for so many years but was in vain. This is really that God is doing His own work, creating this environment to put you out of your misery. It’s true that what is impossible for man is absolutely possible for God. Thanks be to God!” From this moment, the knot between me and my mother was undone. Following that, communicating our knowledge of God’s words became our common topic. Then I asked my mother to help me contact the church near my work. Nevertheless, the Chinese government persecuted the Christians so severely that the environment in all places were extremely adverse. Thus, it was difficult for me to get in touch with the local church.

   I share an apartment with two friends. One day when I was writing in the living room, I felt a little upset because of a problem I encountered and wanted to get some fresh air to relax myself on the balcony. As the window of my friends’ bedroom opened onto the balcony, hardly had I gotten to the balcony when I heard my two friends talking: “I feel Yang Han is very self-righteous and conceited, and she likes competing with others….” “One day Sister Yun told me that she was very snobbish…. Probably she herself hasn’t notice these yet….” Hearing these words, I felt extremely upset with anger welling up within. And I thought: How could you speak ill of me behind my back? If you really treat me as your friends, why not point out my shortcomings to my face and help me improve rather than talk about me behind my back? At the thought of this, I really wanted to question them or just push the door open and hear what else they would say. Yet I finally refrained myself as I thought of these words in the Bible: “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus said to him, I say not to you, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:21-22). From these words, I knew that God asked us not to get angry and lose our temper but to learn to tolerate and be patient when we are associating with others.

    On June 23, 2015, I came to America. Before going abroad, I had dreamed that the environment and various aspects of life in America should be very good, and in the future, I would live a comfortable life. Nonetheless, when I arrived, I felt very disappointed about my living environment. In an apartment lived eight households, and we shared a kitchen and a bathroom. What’s more, what I couldn’t bear the most was that almost nobody did the cleaning here and that the apartment was a mess. Seeing all this, in a flash I had a feeling of falling from the sky to the ground. In China, I lived alone in a 60-square-meter home. Although it was not large, it was comfortable and capacious for me to live alone in that house. The more I thought, the more I was unwilling to stay here. However, I couldn’t come back to China, because I had to stay here to look after my husband. Therefore, I had to continue to live here regardless of how bad the environment was. Having no choice, I had to do the cleaning, such as cleaning the stool and bathtub, mopping the floor, cleaning the kitchen and throwing away the garbage…. From then on, I did the cleaning all the time. If I didn’t do it, no one would do it. If I did it, I would feel choked in my heart. I was really upset.

After believing in God, as long as I was at leisure, I would gather medicinal herbs to earn money instead of paying attention to reading God’s word. In an accident, when my life was at stake, God marvelously protected me from the danger. Brothers and sisters, is everybody here? Here’s a question I really can’t figure it out. Today I want to seek your understanding of it.

In 2 Timothy 3:16, Brother Paul said, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God.” I, as well as many brothers and sisters, think that all words in the Bible are given by inspiration of God and they are all God’s words, and we never doubt it. However, recently when I read the Bible, I found some contradictions in it unexpectedly. The Bible says: “Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem” (2 Chronicles 36:9). But it also says: “Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months” (2 Kings 24:8). From the two verses we can see 2 Chronicles says it was at eight that Jehoiachin began to reign while 2 Kings says it was at eighteen. What’s more, 2 Chronicles says he reigned three months and ten days while 2 Kings says he reigned three months. If all the words in the Bible are God’s words and given by inspiration of God, then one thing should be recorded the same, and there should be no contradictions. Why are there different versions of the same thing? I am confused whether or not the Bible is given by inspiration of God now.
