“Sister Wei, something’s happened! Shortly after you left, the police surrounded our meeting place and all the brothers and sisters were arrested except us three. What should we do?” Hearing this news, and looking at the expression of panic and fear in the sisters’ faces, my heart was also pounding, worry and fear welling up in my mind. Not knowing how the CCP police would spite and torment these arrested brothers and sisters, I hastened to pray to the Lord with the sisters, asking the Lord to guide them and to protect and strengthen each brother’s and sister’s heart, so that we could rely on the Lord in persecution and tribulation to bear testimony for Him.

March 19, 2017 was the day when I flied to Australia to study. During the whole process from making preparation to successfully having all the paperwork done, God was leading me all along by my side. At the thought of this, I felt very grateful to God.     Ou Yang was a cashier at a hamburger restaurant. On a Sunday morning, the restaurant was crowded with people and the business was especially good. Ou Yang not only had to attend to the guests and take their orders, but also was responsible for giving the orders to the kitchen, serving the food and collecting money. As Ou Yang was extremely busy with her work, she heard someone calling her name; she looked up, and saw her aunt and her aunt’s 4-year-old granddaughter. Ou Yang hurried to tell her aunt to find a seat and ordered a hamburger and a drink for her aunt’s granddaughter; having no time for her aunt, she immediately went back to work. Later, the guests in the restaurant became more and more. Seeing that Ou Yang was really busy, her aunt said goodbye to her. Taking leave of her aunt, Ou Yang continued with her work.

    I am not fond of overhearing others’ conversations because I think it is impolite. Unexpectedly, one day I actually overheard one.

     I Overheard a Conversation

   I share an apartment with two friends. One day when I was writing in the living room, I felt a little upset because of a problem I encountered and wanted to get some fresh air to relax myself on the balcony. As the window of my friends’ bedroom opened onto the balcony, hardly had I gotten to the balcony when I heard my two friends talking: “I feel Yang Han is very self-righteous and conceited, and she likes competing with others….” “One day Sister Yun told me that she was very snobbish…. Probably she herself hasn’t notice these yet….” Hearing these words, I felt extremely upset with anger welling up within. And I thought: How could you speak ill of me behind my back? If you really treat me as your friends, why not point out my shortcomings to my face and help me improve rather than talk about me behind my back? At the thought of this, I really wanted to question them or just push the door open and hear what else they would say. Yet I finally refrained myself as I thought of these words in the Bible: “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus said to him, I say not to you, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:21-22). From these words, I knew that God asked us not to get angry and lose our temper but to learn to tolerate and be patient when we are associating with others.
