The “Prince Charming” in Yanzi’s Mind’s Eye

    While Yanzi studied at a junior middle school, a friend of her elder brother often came to play at her home, and then he became familiar with her little by little. Yanzi’s parents were out of health, so he did not waste words to help after knowing that her family met with difficulties. From Yanzi’s junior year of senior middle school to the end of the college entrance examination, he picked up and saw off her every night in all weathers. Then Yanzi went to an out-of-town university, and he always took good care of her family during her university years. They eventually married after she graduated from school. After that, he still showed her every consideration. When their baby was born, he was worried that it was hard for her to look after the baby, so he gave her a hand with the baby of his own accord in order that she could have more rest. At every party, Yanzi’s friends said to her enviously: “You are very lucky to have such a good husband.” At that moment, Yanzi thought her husband was like Fifth Prince (the fifth son of the Qianlong Emperor) in the television drama series “Princess Huanzhu (also known as My Fair Princess),” and she herself was like the princess, Little Swallow (Xiao Yanzi, who has a romantic relationship with Fifth Prince). And she considered that she was the happiest person in the world.

Is He Still Yanzi’s “Prince Charming”?

    Shortly afterward, Yanzi discovered her husband got addicted to Internet games, and the more he played, the more he was hooked on them. Once her husband was playing games from evening to the next morning. She said to him angrily: “You crazy! You even play all night without rest.” Hearing this, he just ignored her. Then she turned off the computer in a fit of pique. Unexpectedly, he dealt her a resounding box on the ears immediately. He, always gentle and obedient to her, hit her only for the game that day. She was most indignant with him and said: “You hit me! In your heart, I’m less than games. Live with your games from now on!” Then she held a grudge against her husband and ignored him for several days. She supposed he would comfort her but he was still hooked on playing games. Though she was very angry, thinking that he used to be good to her, she chose to forgive. However, for her forgiveness, he didn’t feel self-blame and didn’t repent. What’s worse, once he took the few thousand yuan, which she would pay for powdered milk for their child, to play games. When she just reproached him, he replied rather impatiently: “Don’t bother me. I’m going to play games.” With their child in her arms, she could not help but to cry helplessly: Where does my husband who was originally gentle and obedient to me go? Is he still my “Prince Charming”?

    One day, finding a tool for taking drugs under the bed, and thus quivering with rage, Yanzi roared at her husband tearfully: “You are too irresponsible. How stupid of you to use drugs!” But her husband said to her slowly: “Don’t worry. I heard my friend say it won’t lead to addiction. Many people eat it, including public servants and the police. Some treat relatives and friends to it. It can cure the cold as well. …” Hearing these, Yanzi had no word to say but to stand there, and her entire being was stunned. Faced with his indifferent attitude, she was angry and worried. She was afraid that he would become violent like those addicts in TV shows. Then she lost her appetite and got bad rest every day, worrying: Does he take drugs with those addicts together? If he does, then his whole being will go to waste and our family will also be destroyed. However, no matter how she tried to persuade him it was in vain, and she lost hope completely. She was longing to retrieve her husband, but she was powerless except crying.

    From then on, they frequently quarreled even to the point of fighting. When hitting her, her husband didn’t forbear her at all. The more Yanzi thought, the angrier she was: Previous wonderful time? Love? My “Prince Charming”? All of these are deceptive! Then she destroyed all previous photographs, including their wedding photographs. Later, she found her jewels, her dowries, were all missing, and then she felt pretty scared, with her heart seeming to be emptied, sitting feebly on the floor. She knew it must be taken by her husband. Sitting on the floor, she thought a lot, tears flowing down. In the past, she considered her husband was her mainstay and that it was the happiest thing to get married with him. However, everything he had done these years was out of her expectation and was completely unacceptable to her. Every time she thought her husband took drugs, she felt scared and hopeless, but who could help her? Considering the future, she just told herself to try to get by.

    Before long, Yanzi’s husband was arrested for burglary and taking drugs. Knowing this, she searched a lot of similar cases on the Internet and found many people like him were all sentenced to several years. Then she began to worry: How can I support this family if he suffers several years’ imprisonment? What can our child and I do? The happiest thing, I thought before, now turns to the worst in my life. She often cried by herself and considered: Happiness has already been away from me. This is all there is to my life. For such a hopeless life, I feel not happier than the dead—once one dies, it will be over. …

Who Saved Unlucky Yanzi?

    In May of 2016, a friend paid a visit to Yanzi. Hearing Yanzi’s suffering, her friend witnessed the kingdom gospel of God to her and let her read a passage of God’s words: “The Almighty has mercy on these people who suffer deeply. At the same time, He is fed up with these people who have no consciousness, because He has to wait too long for the answer from humans. He desires to seek, seek your heart and your spirit. He wants to bring you food and water and to awaken you, so you are no longer thirsty, no longer hungry. When you are weary and when you begin to feel the desolation of this world, do not be perplexed, do not cry. Almighty God, the Watcher, will embrace your arrival any time. He is watching by your side, waiting for you to turn back. He is waiting for the day your memory suddenly recovers: becoming conscious of the fact that you came from God, somehow and somewhere once lost, falling unconscious on the roadside, and then, unknowingly having a father. You further realize that the Almighty has been watching there, awaiting your return all along.” Yanzi was moved deeply by God’s words, thinking: I formerly put my trust in my husband and regarded him as my reliance. As a result, my husband’s depravation and callosity made me completely hopeless and live in an unbounded sea of bitterness. … The God’s words spoke to her heart, just like a mother calls her child, with love and warmth. These words made her see that her life still had hope and that she still had one to depend on.

    Then her friend said: “Before I believed in God, my husband frequently cheated on me. Once he went out, I would doubt him and sometimes stalk him. We would quarrel as soon as he came back home, which caused me to live in pain and feel tired. Since I believed in God, seeing God’s words, I knew my husband also suffered the destruction by Satan. I gradually dropped hate for him by understanding the truth. So my life had a turn. … ” Through reading God’s words and listening to her friend’s fellowship, Yanzi accepted the kingdom gospel of God. Since she believed in God, brothers and sisters tried their best to help her every time she met difficulties. They gave her the fellowship of God’s words to make her have the path of practice, which made her feel God’s love and salvation. After a period of time, she was in a really good mood and smiled more and more. Together with brothers and sisters, she felt very happy.

God’s Words Undo the Knot in Her Mind

    Later, Yanzi saw God’s words: “The devil Satan does these things in order to lure people, to cause them to degenerate. For those who live in virtual worlds, they have no interest whatsoever in anything to do with the life of normal humanity; they are not in the mood to work or study. They are only concerned about going to virtual worlds, as though they are being enticed by something. … This evil world uses all manner of ways to attract those who have not seen through the world, who have not seen through the evil trends of mankind. It specially lures these people.” The knot in Yanzi’s mind was undone by God’s words. It turned out that Satan uses all sorts of tricks to deceive and lure people. Without the truth, we human beings cannot distinguish, but accept Satan’s temptation unconsciously, regarding the things that most people follow as the right ones. Once trapped into Satan’s tricks, we human beings will become ever more evil and degenerate, cold-blooded and ruthless. Subsequently, we will suffer all kinds of pain and troubles which result from Satan, which are the means Satan harms man by. Living in the affliction of Satan, if we have no force to resist, we will only be devoured by it in the end. Playing games and taking drugs, for instance, both are the tricks by which Satan harms man, which harmed not only her husband but also her, so that their harmonious family turned fragmented from then on. When Yanzi understood these, the huge rock in her heart was taken away, and she also dropped hate for her husband a little. In fact, not coming before God, her husband was also pitiable under Satan’s affliction.

The Most Happiness in Life

    She dropped hate for her husband a little through reading God’s words, but supposing her husband would be sentenced to several years, she worried: How can our child and I live in the future? How can I support this family? After knowing that, a sister said to her soothingly: “Don’t worry. God holds sovereignty over everything, and He is our reliance. If we commit our difficulties to God, He will open up a way for us. …” Afterward, Yanzi constantly prayed to God and was willing to commit all of hers into God’s hand to let God rule and arrange. Later, she put her elder sister’s child up and thus she could get a few maintenance fees every month. So she and her child had a way to live. After that, the written judgments of her husband was given, which said he was sentenced to one year and nine months.

    Her husband being released, Yanzi told him her experience of believing in God when he was in prison. After hearing that, her husband was both moved and surprised. He continued asking her to talk about believing in God. Afterward, afraid that her husband went on walking the former path, she brought this thing to God and prayed many times. To her surprise, her husband said to her: “Don’t worry. I will never touch drugs and will live well with you. …” Seeing the transformation of her husband, Yanzi was very moved in her heart and she felt it was God’s miraculous deeds, especially when hearing her husband said he was originally sentenced to over three years and that he didn’t know why it was suddenly changed to one year and nine months. At that moment, she thought of God’s words: “You must always remain close to Me and place all matters in My hands. Do not go back in vain. After unknowingly being close to Me for a period of time, My intentions shall be revealed to you.” Experiencing God’s faithfulness from it, Yanzi could not but to shed tears. It turned out that God was always with her, didn’t forsake her, and heard her prayers. To think back on the way she walked, it was God who arranged for the people and things around her to help her go through one trouble after another. Yanzi decided to follow God and go the way of believing in God wholeheartedly.

    Recalling the past, if God’s salvation hadn’t come upon her, Yanzi would not have known what would happen to her: Maybe she would have broken down mentally or gotten divorced…. Owing to God’s mercy and salvation, she could come before God. Through reading God’s words, she had some discernment toward Satan’s tricks, saw through Satan’s evil substance and saw thoroughly that Satan brings us man endless pain and torment; at the same time, Yanzi saw God’s essence is love, righteousness and holiness. It was God who saved her family and changed her life. Now, Yanzi not only has a good relationship with her husband, but also performs the duty as a created being in the church. She is quite relieved and happy every day. She thought of God’s words: “Whenever Satan corrupts man or engages in unbridled harm, God does not stand idly by, neither does He brush aside or turn a blind eye to those He has chosen. … What God wants to see is that man’s heart can be revived. In other words, these ways that He uses to work on man are to continually awaken the heart of man, awaken man’s spirit, letting man know where they came from, who is guiding them, supporting them, providing for them, and who has allowed man to live up till now; they are to let man know who is the Creator, whom they should worship, what kind of road they should walk, and in what way man should come before God; they are used to gradually revive the heart of man, so man knows God’s heart, understands God’s heart, and comprehends the great care and thought behind His work to save man.”

    Yanzi once considered it was the happiest thing to marry the person who takes good care of her. After this experience, she appreciates that it is the happiest thing to accept God’s salvation in the last days, go back to God’s home, and perform the duty of a created being. Thank God!
