It’s So Happy to Learn Guitar With My Feet on the Ground

In my free time, I always liked to watch the grand concerts or the singing contests on television. Especially when I saw the actors and stars finished their performance on the stage, they got the audience’s flowers, applause, and admiring glances, which really made me endlessly envious. I dreamed: How great it would be if I could master a music instrument sometime and be admired by people like them. Later on, I spoke out my thoughts and, after having my dad’s permission, I set forward on the journey of learning the guitar.

I read a small story on the Internet which is very connotational:

If the top stroke is deleted from the Chinese character “我” (wo, “I”), it will turn into another word, the Chinese character “找” (zhao, “find”). In order to get that one stroke back, the Chinese character for the word I asked many people, “What may that one stroke deleted from me refer to?” They said it was money, power, reputation, honor, salaries, grades, or anything else …

Eastern Lightning | One’s Fate Is Not Determined by Academic Grades

One’s Fate Is Not Determined by Academic Grades

I inadvertently saw a poem called “God Asked Me to Take a Snail for a Walk” on my computer. It said: “God gave me a task, asking me to take a snail for a walk. I couldn’t walk too fast. The snail had tried its best to climb, but it could only move a bit every time. I rushed it, scared it, and scolded it. It looked at me in apology, as if saying ‘I have tried my best.’ I pulled it, I dragged it, and even wanted to kick it. The snail was hurt, but it still breathlessly crawled forward with sweat. It was strange! I wondered why God made me walk with a snail? Oh, God! Why? …” When reading this poem, I couldn’t help but remember that because I was controlled by the viewpoint of being highly ambitious for the children, I took some measures for raising my daughter to be talented, and making her get ahead and gain family prestige in the future, and that I brought some harm and pain to both of us.

Eastern Lightning | The Secret to Getting a Harmonious and Happy Family

When I was twelve, my mother died and I was raised by my father. Later, he arranged a marriage for me. After getting married, I found my wife was an uneducated and bad-tempered woman. We were always fighting about some family trifles. I remembered that when our daughter was in Grade 2, my wife saw that our family was poor, so she wanted our daughter to drop out. Because I didn’t agree with her, she frequently had a fight with me. I thought that my wife was so narrow-minded, and then our communication became less and less. Afterward, most of the people in our village had built new houses, and I also wanted to borrow money to rebuild our old house. However, my wife disagreed and said to me, “The old house is good enough, why do you want to build a new?” No matter how I persuaded her, she still didn’t agree. Due to this matter, we, too, had quarreled for a half year. When we calmed down, I told my wife, “I’m the head of this family and I’m more well-informed than you. In other families, the wives all listen to their husbands, why do you not listen to me?” Then, my wife disapprovingly replied me, “Why should I listen to you? You are never considerate toward me!” Thus, we neither would give in to each other. The least lasting 3-5 days, and the longest lasting over 10 days, we had ignored each other. Seeing my wife was unable to satisfy me, I often complained against heaven and earth. I wanted to divorce, but I thought my child would be pitiful; if not divorcing, I didn’t know how I would live through my life.

Eastern Lightning | Viewing Things From a Different Perspective, We Will Have a Surprising Gain

April 13, 2018
      By Yang Han

I am not fond of overhearing others’ conversations because I think it is impolite. Unexpectedly, one day I actually overheard one.

     I Overheard a Conversation

I share an apartment with two friends. One day when I was writing in the living room, I felt a little upset because of a problem I encountered and wanted to get some fresh air to relax myself on the balcony. As the window of my friends’ bedroom opened onto the balcony, hardly had I gotten to the balcony when I heard my two friends talking: “I feel Yang Han is very self-righteous and conceited, and she likes competing with others….” “One day Sister Yun told me that she was very snobbish…. Probably she herself hasn’t notice these yet….” Hearing these words, I felt extremely upset with anger welling up within. And I thought: How could you speak ill of me behind my back? If you really treat me as your friends, why not point out my shortcomings to my face and help me improve rather than talk about me behind my back? At the thought of this, I really wanted to question them or just push the door open and hear what else they would say. Yet I finally refrained myself as I thought of these words in the Bible: “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus said to him, I say not to you, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:21-22). From these words, I knew that God asked us not to get angry and lose our temper but to learn to tolerate and be patient when we are associating with others.

Christian Video "Honesty Is Priceless" Only the Honest Can Enter the Kingdom of Heaven (Full Movie)

Introduction
Zhen Cheng was the owner of an appliance repair shop. He was kind, honest, and did business by the book. He would never try to pull the wool over someone's eyes, but he was only making enough money to barely support his family. After a time, a family member and a fellow tradesman urged him to practice the unwritten rules of business, and Zhen Cheng began to believe in sayings that represent a satanic philosophy such as: "A man without a second income will never get rich just like a horse starved of hay at night will never put on weight," "The bold die of gluttony; the timid die of starvation," "Money isn't everything, but without it, you can do nothing," and "Money is first." Zhen Cheng lost his good conscience that had guided him before and began using underhanded means to earn more money. Even though he earned more money than he had previously, and his living standards improved, Zhen Cheng nonetheless felt unhappy and a feeling of emptiness plagued him; life was hollow and fraught with suffering.

Eastern Lightning | How Should Christianity Be Understood?

April 4, 2018

Zheng Weiguo (Minister of a municipal United Front Work Department): I have been working for the United Front for many years, and I have studied various religious beliefs. Christianity, Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy are all orthodox religions that believe in Jesus. But your belief in Almighty God is so different. According to CCP documents, The Church of Almighty God does not belong to Christianity at all.
